Product Description

Gripping tag-team vocals, outstanding pop sensibilities and uncompromising guitar rock are the cornerstones upon which Sweetjuice has built their first studio album, "Swim." A genre-defying, potent mix of storm and melancholy sealed with airtight arrangements, "Swim" rises above the wall of indie-cool and pours forth raw emotion - in the singing, the playing and the writing. With rock and roll's most basic components - Drums, Vocals, Guitars - and with influences ranging from Elvis Costello to Rickie Lee Jones to Alice Cooper - Sweetjuice unravels tales of betrayal, loss and regret all centered in the strength of defiance and confidence hard-earned by experience. You can either sink or swim. Sweetjuice chooses the latter. This is the album you listen to when you have finished with all the other breakup albums, when you are ready to put away the self-pity and make your comeback. The songs will get into your head and see you through the New Depression. The album is already receiving radio airplay in the Northwest, and a promotional tour up and down the west coast is planned for this spring and summer. Sweetjuice's singer/songwriters Adam East and Kris Deelane have been a musical team for 20 years and their trademark male/female harmonies are woven deep into the fabric of these songs and intertwined with bold guest appearances from some of Portland's finest instrumentalists. Dave Pulliam's keyboards rumble and shriek; Michael Herrmann's guitar soars; Kipp Crawford's drums turn on a dime then keep the beat steady even as the songs sometimes want to burst through their seams. Recorded to analog tape with old-school technology at Klickitat Band Camp in Portland, there is a familiar warmth to the rich production. Ghosts of bygone decades roam the grooves here. Guitar rock of the Seventies collides with Maximum R & B. The cutting edge of punk lives next to psychedelia and dissolves into the heartfelt acoustic lament of the troubadour. Still, the sound is fresh and new - a heady concoction with the authentic, unique taste of Sweetjuice.
